We are lucky to have Lucky’s Market in Coral Springs FLA!

As I’m typing this I’m snacking on some Lucky’s Market Honey Orange Bacon. This $hit is outstanding! Nice and thick with a solid pork and smoke flavor. It’s not your ordinary Black Label bacon you buy in Publix. This has that just smoked pork punch that screams I love BACON! Ok I had to get that out of my system LOL. I’ve been holding that in since they first opened and I needed to type that badly:)

History

This was taken from Lucky’s Market website:

“If this were a history book, we’d say Lucky’s Market was started by two chefs from Boulder, Colorado in 2003. But it’s not a history book. It’s a website for a natural food store unlike no other. And a story about really good food and a really good idea.

So we’re going to start with how Trish and Bo Sharon came up with a grocery store unlike any other. Trish and Bo were, in fact, two chefs. So they knew a lot about food. And a lot about where to get it.

They went to health food stores because they didn’t want pesticides and growth hormones. They explored weekend farmer’s markets for really fresh produce. And gourmet stores because that’s where they found the world’s best flavors. They were always looking for good, wholesome food for themselves and their kids. Yet they still shopped at conventional stores for the traditional ingredients their grandmothers used to make the foods they grew up with.

But something wasn’t sitting well. Why did they have to shop at so many different places? Why did those places seem welcoming to some people, but not all people? And why did the highest quality food always come with the highest price tag? It didn’t feel right. So Trish and Bo decided to do something about it. They didn’t care how everybody else did it. They wanted to do it right. So they created an entirely different kind of store. Lucky’s Market.”

Why Do I Love Lucky’s Market?

Besides their commitment for excellent products, it’s the design of the store that sets the mood. When you walk in the doors you can practically see everything inside. The open concept and bright lights sets the positive mood to shop. The cleanliness of the joint shines thru with its orange colored concrete floors and spotless interior.

Lucky's Market Outstanding Blue Cheese Burgers on my grill!

Lucky’s Market Outstanding Blue Cheese Burgers on my grill!

The meat section is one of the best around. Doris Italian Market is probably the best west of the FLA Turnpike but Lucky’ ranks right up there. The homemade smoked bacon is money. Trust me once you have their bacon you will crave it and not want to eat any other brand again. Their hamburgers mixed with bacon and cheddar hold up well on the grill and don’t fall apart like the ones Publix makes. My favorite is the blue cheese burgers and when you add their bacon it’s pure heaven. Just a note…If you look at my picture of the blue cheese burger on my grill you will notice the big chunks of blue cheese. That’s the way they are made. I didn’t add any of that cheese.

Next up is their deli case. They prepare their own roast beef and turkey. I’m a big fan of Boars Head products but Luckys just taste fresher. Once you taste the smoked turkey you will know exactly what I’m typing.

 Specialty meats

All the BBQ and Marinde Sauces

All the BBQ and Marinde Sauces

The BBQ sauce and bottled marinade sections are amazing. Hardly any corporate giants being sold on these shelves. Lots of mom and pop sauces sold here. A lot of them I’ve never heard of. I like the fact the little guy/girl are getting some shelf time. Most of the time products from folks like that are way better than a Kraft Corp could offer.

Prepared Food Case

Prepared Food Case

Prepared food is another highlight. They have a case with meatballs, lasagna, coleslaw etc… There is another case off to the side where they have fresh Mac & Cheese, prepared salads, spaghetti & meatballs, huge stuff baked potatoes, and pizzas to take home and heat up. They have so many cool things in this thing area that making a decision on what to buy is so damn hard. My son loves the Mac & Cheese and I’m a fan of the pizza. The brioche buns and pretzel rolls they sell are off the charts good.

Beer as far as the eye can see!

Beer as far as the eye can see!

The Beer

The beer section is like a hidden wonderland of greatness. It’s off to the westside and you really can’t see it when you walk into the main store. If you hang a hard right when you walk in the main building you will see beerpalloza. There is no supermarket that I’ve ever seen that has a selection of beers that this place does. It doesn’t have as many as Total Wine but it has way more than ABC Liquors, Publix, Fresh Market, Whole Foods, and Winn Dixie. Also you can buy growlers of whatever they have on tap to take home. The bonus round is they have a small counter where you can buy beer, wine, and food to have while you shop! They have little trays that you can carry your drinks on while you shop. Pretty cool!

Yes they sell Draft Beer and you can drink and shop!

Yes they sell Draft Beer and you can drink and shop!

The only drawback with going to Lucky’s is the lack of paper products and cleaning supplies. They just don’t have the selections you would find in other big chains. I know they are NOT modeled after any big chain supermarket and shouldn’t be. But my only suggestion…and don’t kill me…make the beer section smaller and add more cleaning supplies and paper products. Then folks like me could just shop/spend our money at Lucky’s and not have to make another stop at Publix or Walmart.

Verdict

There are many other sections in Luckys that I didn’t cover…Like the barrels of nuts, candies, granola, the produce section, the hot pizza area, the fresh sandwich counter, the sushi area, seafood department, the make your own salad kiosk, the cheese area, and vitamin section. I only highlighted  my favorites. One thing I didn’t mentioned was prices. The prices are reasonable but I haven’t seen any BOGO deals here. They do run specials on sushi, pizzas, roaster chickens, chicken breasts and double coupons on Wednesdays. You have to check out their weekly ad for what’s on sale. You can sign up for it on their website.

To be fair, I have to rate this joint the same as a Whole Foods and Fresh Market. I have to say Luckys is better than both of them. 4 Beers! Remember to tell them Dan I Cook sent you for some bacon and burgers! Stay Hungry!

Four beers = Outstanding
Three beers = Good
Two beers = OK
One beer = Needs work
Zero beers= Sucks (No beer is never a good thing.)
