Little Shop of Horrors: Presented by Coral Springs Institute for the Performing Arts.
On May 6th @ 7p and on May 7th @ 2p and 7p the young men and women of the Coral Springs Institute for the Performing Arts will be performing Little Shop of Horrors @ the Coral Springs Center of the Arts. Cost is only 15 dollars.
Why should you go? It’s great entertainment for only 15 bucks. If you enjoy musicals and are looking for something local and fun, this is it. The young adults and their directors/choreographers pump out some decent shows. I’ve been attending them for 4 years straight and each time it’s been enjoyable.
My Daughter
My daughter has been part of this wonderful Coral Springs Institute for the Performing Arts for 4 years. She is in this show so you can say me posting this is a shameless plug. It’s not and here is why. I love the arts. I grew up with my dad dancing in the Mai-Kai for 30 years. He is a legend when it comes to the Samoan Fire Knife Dance and Polynesian Dancing. He and my mom pushed all of us kids into dance and theater at a very young age. It was only natural that our daughter, Madison, also gravitated towards theater because it’s in her blood. The best thing we could have ever done for our Madison was to enroll her in Coral Springs Institute for the Performing Arts. They have taken our little girl and helped transform her into a strong, confident, and fearless young lady. The directors of the program explain early on that everyone cannot play the lead and that is part of life. How you deal with disappointment and or rejection will help mold you into a better person. I’ve seen this theme play out over the years as Madison has auditioned for parts and was not selected and then the next year come right back to get a larger role. She didn’t quit or feel sorry for herself, she kept on trying to do better. I’m sure I’m not the only parent who’s child is in this program who thinks like me. We Love it!
The Arts are so important to our society. I am so proud to live in the City of Coral Springs where they value the importance of a program like this. With that being said, take your friend or significant other to this show and see the good that is happening in our community. Nothing beats going to dinner and then hitting the theater especially when the tickets are only 15 bucks a person. Stay Hungry!
