RESCHEDULED…..Dining With Dan I Cook at Gabose Pocha on Thursday, October 13 2016 at 5:30 pm. SOLD OUT!

Finally…….. THE Talent, ME, is coming back with some friends to the Gabose Family! When I first branched out with my Food Blog, I dreamed of doing dinners at places like Pocha. My goal was to take my diners on a culinary journey to places I love and respect. Gabose Pocha pretty much sums up that I have arrived to where I want to be with my blog and special events.

Before I start with the particulars of the dinner, I humbly want to thank the owners, Susan and Fred for allowing us to enjoy their home away from home, Pocha. I also want to thank Manager, Danny, for working with me to hammer out the details/menu for my event.

The Deal

What is Pocha?

Pocha is short for pojangmacha (포장마차), which literally means “covered wagon”, and refers to a street food vendor. The menu is usually large, but everything is meant for sharing.

That’s right folks…this will be a tour of street foods from Korea. If you have never had Korean food, be prepared to free your mind and your taste buds. This dinner is strictly for folks that have a passion for food and who are willing to try new cuisines. Along with Indian cuisine, Korean food is just packed with the savory flavors of sweetness, sourness, bitterness, and saltiness. All food connoisseurs know this as umami or Savory Taste. The Koreans do a fantastic job with achieving this profile.
The cost of the meal will be will be $30 (tax and tip included). All drinks are on your own. You must prepay me and there will be NO REFUNDS. The place can hold 50, but I’m thinking about capping this off at 30 diners. It really depends on my mood LOL. Pocha may run a Soju “Korean Saki” special so I’ll keep you posted on that.

The Menu
6 Chicken Wings (Pocha Original)
6 Fish Jerky
6 Pork Ramen
6 Cream Tukpoki
6 Golbangee (Spicy Escargot Salad)
6 Tofu Shiitake
6 Kimchi Doria
6 Champong Ghetti (MIxed seafood stir-fried with egg noodles and vegetables in spicy sauce)
6 Chamchi Muchim (Tuna with seaweed salad, asian pear and wasabi cream)

I will have 4 tables of five diners at each and the center banquet table will hold ten diners.  Each table will get to sample each one of the above food items. The banquet table will get two items at their table. All food will be shared.

We will start at 5:30 pm and apps will start at 6:00. I will have assigned seating to make this more organized. If you are coming with a group, let me know so I can try and get y’all together. They have 10 tables that hold about 5 people and a larger banquet table in the center. Besides the assigned seating, that is as formal as it gets. This is totally casual and our goal is to have lots of FUN. The food will be served family style and to share at each table. Remember, there is going to be Karoke, too, so warm up your vocal cords, folks! You don’t need to get up in front of everyone either. They will bring the two microphones to your table and you can sing right there.

My VIP

My VIP for this event will be Ming. He is the owner of Sakura Sushi in Coral Springs, Fl. I’ve know Ming and his sister Tina for almost 2 decades. Ming is a long time business owner and one of the friendliest guys around. He works his ass off and I thought it would be a kind gesture to let him take a damn break and enjoy himself. Congrats Ming!

The photographer will my buddy Adam Baron. He took some great pictures at my Applebees Event. I’m glad he’s coming out to assist and please visit http://adambaronphoto.com/ for more information.

Thanks for another outstanding event! From the fish jerky to the fried Tofu, everything was made with care and precision and then served with unique presentation. The drink served in half of a watermelon wasn’t too shabby either. Most of all you and your guests made for an exceptional dining experience! Can’t wait ’til the next “dining with Dan” gathering.
