Skyline Chili is Closing in Fort Lauderdale…..But There is a Better One in Sunrise Fl.

The owners, their son and staff

All this chatter about Skyline Chili closing in Ft. Lauderdale. While the news is sad especially for the workers and customers looks like the owners are making out pretty good. I mentioned this in The Sun Sentinel Facebook group Let’s Eat South Florida and got my head bitten off. I was called a “Karen” which to me is a racist name. Stereotyping white women or white people that complain or are a busy body as some dude posted is wrong. I don’t care how you shake it up it is a derogatory name when used in degrading manner. People got pissed I said the owners sold out which they did for an oil change place to replace it. They didn’t close from bankruptcy or the Rona virus. They made some millions for their family and shut down. I don’t feel sorry for them at all. I posted about feeling bad for the workers and customers but that didn’t matter to some of the folks in this group. They were hell bent on discrediting me, making fun of me, and bullying me. Did I flag any of the comments, no. I’m not a rat bastard like that. These owners made a business decision to sell out. They didn’t ask the customers or the staff if this was ok. They just did it and good for them. Again I don’t feel sorry one bit. For the folks in that group who didn’t like what I had to say, kiss my white Samoan Ass😂.

Now growing up in Oakland Park and going to the Ft. Lauderdale location since I was young am I going to make a nostalgic trip back? No. The reason is I moved to northwest Broward almost 3 decades ago. I have been there since then. I’ve been going to the Sunrise location this whole time and haven’t looked back.

The owner making my to go order

I went to the Sunrise location the other day to pick up some skyliners (deconstructed) to take home. Now if I got them with the chili and cheese on top of the hotdogs everything would be soggy. So I asked them to put the onions and mustard on the dogs and place the cheese and chili separate. They will gladly do this for you too. In my pictures you can see how I recreated these bundles of joy back at my house. Just fantastic.

Deconstructed for take out
A little hot sauce
Lots of damn cheese

Verdict

The owners were quick to say they are not going anywhere and plan on being at this location for years to come. Doesn’t hurt the owners are a married couple and I see them working here along with their son almost every time I go in. When the owners are involved in day to day operations you know things will be consistent, clean, and good. I took a nice picture of the entire staff. Folks traveling from East Broward now to this Sunrise location they are ready for you. I can’t wait to see the regulars from the Lauderdale location try the Sunrise one. I think y’all may be pleasantly surprised. I rate this 4 Beers. Stay Hungry!

Four beers = Outstanding
Three beers = Good
Two beers = OK
One beer = Needs work
Zero beers= Sucks (No beer is never a good thing.)
